Hudson Vineyards Carneros Syrah 2010 750ml

The familiar 2010 story of low yields of high-quality fruit were the case at Hudson Vineyards, as they only produced 60 cases of their estate Carneros Syrah. The individually sorted Syrah berries were co-fermented with 5% Viognier and the wine was aged in new French oak for 18 months. From the winery: "The wine shows classic soaring aromatics from this site including roasting meat, Cuban tobacco, and dried herbs, with a wonderful dried plum and currant nose. The wine is a middle weight expression of Hudson Syrah that is savory and powdery. Perfectly ripe flavors of damson plum and cassis are highlighted by Provençal herbs. The tannins are powdery and give a peppery edge to the wine. The wine will definitely improve and we would recommend 1-2 yrs for the components to meld."
