Tokoeka Estate Pink Sauvignon Blanc 750ml

Sauvignon Blanc brings the zippy, citrusy, grapefruit notes. A touch of Syrah adds some berry fruit a lovely pink blush. This is a pairing you will not find in any wine text book anywhere. It’s not a classic. Honestly, it’s the sort of wine that might drive “serious wine people” halfway up the nearest wall. But this “serious wine person” says “whatever”- it’s delicious! I was visiting a friend’s wine shop in the NYC and as always happens when wine shop people visit wine shop people, we shared tips about new wines and new distributors that had hit our radar. Now this was a shop that services a lot of collectors and has bottles on their shelves at prices that could cover my shop’s monthly mortgage. So I was just a bit shocked when they cracked this cheeky bottle open. Really? Yes really. It was just so charming and fun and tasty. Liquid proof that sometimes you just need to throw away the textbook and dive into something irresistibly good.
